Phonics

Meadowcroft uses the Little Wandle phonics scheme.

Phonics is taught in Reception and Key Stage 1 every morning.

Below are the letter formation mnemonics that are used to help children remember how to form the letters correctly. For digraphs, there is a mnemonic to help remember how to say the sound. You will also find a full list of the tricky words that are taught in reception and Year 1. These are words that are not decodable and therefore must be read by sight.
