Meadowcroft Community Infant School

Special Educational Needs & Disabilities

Our aim at Meadowcroft is for each child to reach his or her potential. It is the policy of the school to ensure early identification of SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Our SENCO (Special Educational Needs co-ordinator) Mrs Moon is in charge of providing children with the right support should they have a learning difficulty.

This support may include one or more of the following – individual programmes of work within the classroom, inclusion in small withdrawal groups and advice and involvement of one of the learning support services. We are willing to make adjustments for all our children. We regularly review our provision for SEND pupils and ensure consultation with parents through their child’s journey in school.

At Meadowcroft the staff and governors value all children equally and aim to ensure that appropriate provision is made to meet the needs of every child. The Specialist Teachers for Inclusive Practice are a team of qualified teachers and experienced Teaching Assistants with specialist knowledge and practical experience in supporting children with SEND and additional needs. Their work involves engaging with families as well as school staff to support all children to thrive in our mainstream schools.  This padlet has links to expert ideas and advice for families - SUPPORTING PARENTS (padlet.com)
